I don't suppose that there's any way to insert a lj cut tag into the version that goes in the lj feed?

Is it really that much of a problem? they aren't that wide or big, so at least they load relatively fast... if they were wide enough to screw up the page's view, that'd be a problem for me but as is, i think they're pretty not-annoying.

i was hoping that someone would voice an opinion on it. I can set it up so it's only one image, or only links. i just figure it's easier to skim past it than to click links. don't worry, i won't post many images often.

I finally got around to giving you a comment back. Read your additive/subtractive post regarding silence or lack of. uhm Steve, you need to get out more instead of trying to desribe and contrast communication methods. LOL

Was talking to someone once(Lawley maybe?) wondering if the next generation brougt up with mostly non-face-to-face to comm, as in IM, will have a harder time with real interaction. Resulting in a higher incidence of shy, or just socially inept people.

odd

get out more? heh. see, strange as it might seem, that musing came straight from what i do at work. i need to abstract things like that to see what can be improved/what's missing. anyhow, i *do* get out, just not offline

IM is a strange thing when it comes to how people communicate: people will often have long, mindless chatter with a large number of people. Conversations get drawn out to hours what could read as minutes of talk.

Some people use IM in a way that they could never really have discussions in real life. Heavy topics, where the inherent latency of the medium to allow the writer to think through their thoughts before sharing them with their conversation partner(s).

Some people use IM primarily for scheduling:

persona: what r u doing 2nite
personb: goin 2 jims party. u?
persona: nuttin. can i come.
personb: gotta ask jim. lololololz!!!1111

You get the idea. There're a lot of ways to use the medium, and different usage patterns can lead to different communication habits. I imagine it'll help some people branch out, as the lack of face-to-face aspect of it lets people feel more confident. It'll hurt others in the same way, as they'll be able to hide behind their words. In a way, it seems to amplify certain behaviors - good or bad, they're just more extreme.

just to say something else on the subject, i think your image sizes are perfect for posting

but the reason i'm actually posting this is a wondering of what the top right photo is of? i have one similar that i took at night inside a moving car of a streetlamp. i love these, they're just the kind of photos i take! :) does your cellcam have a macro or zoom? i ask because of the bottom right one, it looks very clear for what i can only imagine must actually be pretty small...

I'm going to assume you mean #92 (the order flows differently depending on browser side, they're in a long line that wraps, not a grid).

All of those photos, oddly enough, are of a bathroom at my office. #92 is a metal hand-rail. #94 is quite close up, but the screws are also fairly big. The cellcam has a 45mm lens, I believe. It's primarily for capturing photos of people who are within arms reach, so it needs it.
