IE7 in Windows Vista: scaring users who try and view source
Xavier: wherein the IE team repeatedly misses the point
Xavier: the users expect to see the source. Why have a feature that by default will raise security warnings? Why not have a "view source" option built-in so they don't have to deal with security dialogues?
Xavier: the only point of this seems to be to associate the viewing of source with a fear of violated security.
Xavier: As everyone knows, the power users don't matter; they will continue to use notepad or whatever. It's the random users who are going to click that, perhaps out of curiousity, and be scared away.
davean: Maybe there is a lesson here for the OLPC folk.
