Howdy. I am Samuel Alexander Baldwin, and I look like this, this, and this.

I am an American citisen by birth, currently residing in Massachussetts in my last year of high school. I am a programmer, mostly in C, Perl, and most recently Go these days, but I have interest in Scheme, Haskell, Python, and several other languages. I am a linguist (in the academic, non-polyglot sense of the word) and enjoy studying both Germanic languages and constructed languages, such as German, Dutch, Swedish, Klingon, Lojban, Quenya, and the Black Speech. I am a mathematician and logician, my interests range from pure mathematics to symbolic logic to computational mathematics. I am an athlete, mainly playing ultimate frisbee in tournaments, leagues, and pick up games. I am a gamer and strategist, mainly playing highly strategic games like go and chess, as well as other board and computer strategy games, as well as various SNES games such as Super Mario World. I am also a vexillologist, cartographer, calligrapher, philosopher, nuisance, debater, lecturer, audiophile, secular humanist, atheist, and probably many, many other things.

I plan on majoring in Computer Systems Engineering and Mathematics in college, as well as a minor in Linguistics, which could turn into a third major. Hopefully I will be able to go to graduate school and perform research in any of these fields, the holy grail of which being computationtal linguistics and/or cryptography because they draws all three disciplines together in one degree or another.

I read quite a bit, mostly science fiction and fantasy, but also noted fiction and comics (both of the Calvin & Hobbes and the V for Vendetta varieties), as well as non-fiction, mainly programming, mathematics, and linguistics books. Take a loot at reading.

I also listen to a fair bit of music, primarily progressive rock and metal, but also including death, black, viking and folk metal, ska, jam/improg music, psychedelic music, and experimental music. You can view a full list at my Last.fm page.
