As far as I can tell, the only term for this kind of design is "tribal." I don't like it, but I'll use it.
For the longest time I complained (at least internally) that I couldn't draw these designs, that I didn't know how, and I finally looked for a tutorial. I couldn't find one, got fed up, and just sketched this out. I think it turned out... Really really well! I also got a chance to use my new markers, of which I need... More. Sad thing about expensive markers is that they're expensive.
